• Our place of residence has the principle of protecting us from the outside. Today, the air we breathe can expose us to different risks. Certain compounds harmful to humans, such as benzene which is highly carcinogenic, can be found.
• The exhaust gases of cars, air pollution can pass the barrier of our walls. They penetrate by our ventilation or heating systems and can be strongly present, even on our place of daily life (home, office …). Tobacco, heating, ventilation, stoves and fireplaces … can also release benzene.
• Thus, exposure to benzene is mainly done in his place of residence: 50% exposure to his home, 32% at his place of work and 18% in daily trips (according to a study by ADEME , 2001).

Benzene

French regulations set a guideline value of 30 μg / m3 as an annual average for long-term exposure.

Decree n ° 2011-1727 of 02 December 2011 relating to the guide values for indoor air for formaldehyde and benzene in establishments receiving public (ERP).
